Combining my first blog post with some pretty huge news to kick things off

Hello! I've wanted to write a blog for some time now. As some may know, I've written many infographics for my Instagram and it's been in the works to use this platform to write more in depth articles about tattooing but aimed towards clients rather than peers. I've always thought that better informed clients make better informed decisions and therefore get better tattoos and there is a distinct lack of trustworthy information out there.

Today, however, informative gets put on ice because my last few weeks have been consumed by a pretty major project. I was approached a few months back about potentially having a space to open a brand new studio with the opportunity to have it exactly as I designed and realised it would be insane to not jump at that sort of chance.

Here's how it was to begin with...

I got tattooed by Sway (now of Sacred Electric) in around 2010 at a private studio in Hyde Park, Leeds called MVL. I distinctly remember not being able to find it because it was late, dark and I wasn't expecting it to be a house - it did have a huge dragon mural on the side though which I probably should have noticed really. My less distinct memory, but what I think I remember of it inside was that after going through a small kitchen that wasn't the tidiest at the time, I walked into this beautiful Japanese inspired room before going to the area Sway was tattooing from. Now my memory for a lot of things around that time is a little hazy but at the very least, what I think I think it was like always stuck with me so when thinking about how I'd like a bigger studio to be for myself, the room I think I remember came to the fore.

The process...

It's been an exciting process seeing everything come together over the past few weeks and everybody that's worked on it (particular shout outs to Paul and Richard) has done an amazing job making it the way I wanted, alongside building Pearlescent Beauty and Aesthetics who are my new neighbours and who gave me this opportunity.
Once all of this side was done, I could get in and crack on with the cosmetic side of things.

Lots of very late nights (yes, I was the idiot painting skirting boards at 2am) later and I am very happy to say that I'm now moved in and working from my new, appointment only private studio as of three days ago!
I'd absolutely love to say that I have loads of great pictures to end this post with but the slightly depressing truth is, I massively underestimated how much there still would be to do and with a complete inability to imagine a room without major furniture etc. already in, I'm kind of making it up as I go along and still have loads to do. The area I'll be using to take advantage of the natural light and get good photos in is currently a storage corner as well as the toilet (I have en suite - very fancy indeed) which is ample in size but currently part occupied with boxes of stuff. I've not really figured out exactly where I want everything to go either which is fine, I'll get there but although I'm happy, I'm far from settled yet. It'll come though - I'm relying on the occasional free afternoon and squeezing half an hour in the morning and afternoons either side of tattooing to put everything up and get things shifted into place.
So for now, this is part of my lovely new waiting/chill out area and thus far is the only picture I have. Next week I will be getting a lot done and I'll do a much better tour of the place!
